In Ireland, sometimes it seems that castle ruins lie beyond just about every bend in the road. This one, however, along the northern coast of Ulster on the road to Belfast is one of the most exciting because of the way it seems, even centuries after its abandonment, to still clutch tenaciously to the rugged cliff that towers high above the frigid sea. The colors of the grasses and mosses are still brilliant even on a glowering late fall morning, and they create an almost kaleidoscopic front "lawn" in stark contrast to the more neutral, yet still lightreflecting tones of the structure itself.
